Every genre of literature is of
interest to the members of this book club as you can see from the list of recent selections below.
This group reads a monthly book selection and then discusses it at a member’s home on the third Thursday of each month from 7:00 – 8:30 PM. Light refreshments, and of course, wine are served to round out the evening. It’s a fun group with broad and continually developing interests.
The group has discussed group expanding their activities to include taking in book signings and talks when an author of interest come to our area.

The 2026 All-Branch Read: A Standout Success
Twenty-two members tapped into their inner “Betty” for a lively, thought-provoking conversation on January 14 with bestselling author Marie Bostwick, celebrating her new novel The Book Club for Troublesome Women. Marie offered fascinating behind-the-scenes insight into her writing process and the influence of her mother, explaining why she set the story in 1963 and wove in themes inspired by Betty Friedan’s The Feminine Mystique.
The online discussion with Marie was engaging, sparking rich follow-up conversations as members reflected on their own related experiences. Adding to the fun, the planning committee curated a buffet of retro-inspired appetizers straight from the book – standouts included the irresistible Coconut Ambrosia Cake and a crowd-pleasing Salmon Cream Cheese Spread. It was a memorable evening of books, conversation, and delicious nostalgia.
“If you put us in a room together, we just start talking about books”.
And that is how the AAUW Book Club was born. We have been meeting since August 2003. At most discussions you will hear “I don’t think I would have ever read this book, but I’m really glad I did”.
The first book we read was Year of Wonders by Geraldine Brooks. One of our more recent book selections was Killers of the Flower Moon: The Osage Murders and the Birth of the FBI by David Grann. We read current releases as well as old favorites; we have read books that make us laugh and books that make us cry; and we have read deeply thought-provoking books as well as just plain fun books. You can see all of our recent selections below.
Our members have very diverse backgrounds of education, careers, and life experiences which enhance our selections and create lively discussions. A public health nurse recommended the book about the last leper colony in the US. Members also bring pictures from their travels of places discussed in our selections, including Cuba, South Africa and Australia.
Upcoming book selections are printed in the newsletter, and all branch members are invited to join us for one or all meetings. You can drop in for books of interest or as your schedule allows. Thirty+ members are on our mailing list and 8 to 10 members attend each discussion.
You often hear members say really like this group because it “pushes them to read things they wouldn’t have read otherwise.”
