This small group of members meets on the third Sunday evening of the month to watch a movie, usually one that treats a serious topic or is more “arty” than the regular Hollywood fare.
The hostess picks the film and provides movie snacks: popcorn, caramel corn, or peanuts and beverages. The evening concludes with a discussion of the movie over coffee and dessert.
The group has been meeting for years and they enjoy this easy format for entertaining friends.
Sadly, because of limited seating around the members’ televisions, people who are interested in watching and discussing films will have to organize a second group.
Here’s a partial list of the movies that have been watched over the years:
- Iron Jawed Angles
- The Lady in the Van
- An Inconvenient Truth
- Still Alice
- The King’s Speech
- Twelve Years a Slave
- Unbroken
- Eye in the Sky
- Winter’s Bone
- The Cider House Rules
- The Untouchables
- Like Water for Chocolate
- The Best Exotic Marigold Hotel
- The Help
